Domaine WARDY - Beqaa Valley, LEBANON Private Selection 2008

I don't usually start off my reviews with personal insight about the Domaine I about to reveal but this is no ordinary story. I have had the honor to sit and chat with Khalil Wardy and his sister Rima Wardy and learn first hand about their history and their wine passion, a passion you could feel through the computer screen as I sat and spoke to them from their home in Lebanon. I now honor you with the first part of their story. I have been graced with several of their cuvees to review; and through each bottle, a new part of their story is disclosed. The first part of their amazing history is below in the comments, enjoy!

Domaine WARDY - Beqaa Valley, LEBANON Private Selection 2008

- Colour: Deep brunt ruby. Tears are thin wine veins that are slow to reach the bowl of the wine-stained glass.

- Fragrance- Imagine running into a secret forest of sweet nothings. A profound pool of mysteries. Everything around you is a ripe ready to eat fruit. Dark morello cherry jam (sour cherry), cooked blueberries, spices, coke, delicate black licorice, toffee, smoke, vanilla, peppermint, and a hint of violet flower en fin Nez, that comes and goes.

- Taste- Wow this wine is astoundingly Fresh! It is a young spirited wine on the palate keeping true to its sagacious character within its aromas. Eye-popping cherry, spice, and cola which gives its youth. This wine is a balanced, full-bodied, red with expressive tannins, silky acidity, and dare I say as complex as its nose. Its aromas of smoke, cigar, and toffee give it its rich fineness which balances out its youthful appearance. It really is an eloquent dance between two worlds. There is a profound availability to this wine, leaving herself open to interpreting more without confusion and being even more available to easily drink!

Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Merlot 30%, Syrah 30% Alc 14.5

Vinification- Handpicked, unfiltered, stainless steel tanks 21 days maceration, new french oak barrels for 14 months.

Soil- Gravel, clay, & silt.
